BIOGRAPHY

David W. Alford, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the care of foot and ankle disorders. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL, and later completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery there. He completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ and at the Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders in Phoenix, AZ.

During his training, Dr. Alford always gravitated toward the most complex foot and ankle patient cases, therefore leading to his decision to specialize in that field. Dr. Alford has been practicing at Southern Bone & Joint Specialists since 1998. He treats ankle instability and the achilles, flat foot deformity, arthritis and tendonitis, bunions and hammertoes, and fractures and performs adult reconstruction. He is also a member of several professional organizations.

A native of Dothan and a graduate of Northview High School, Dr. Alford has served as the sideline physician at Houston Academy sporting events for several years. He enjoys hunting, fishing, watching sports and spending time with his family at their farm.
